في إطار مساعي العراق الحثيثة للحفاظ على تنوعه البيولوجي الغني واستعادته، يقدم برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي في العراق الدعم للحكومة العراقية، ممثلة بوزارة البيئة، في صياغة أهدافها الوطنية للتنوع البيولوجي، بما يتماشى مع الإطار العالمي للتنوع البيولوجي.

وتحت مظلة الإطار العالمي للتنوع البيولوجي، قام برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي أيضًا بدعم إعداد مشروع جديد يهدف إلى دمج اعتبارات التنوع البيولوجي في التخطيط المكاني. يركز هذا المشروع بشكل خاص على تعزيز الجهود المبذولة للحفاظ على التنوع البيولوجي الحضري وحمايته في وسط العراق.

تمثل هذه المبادرة خطوة أساسية لترسيخ التزام العراق بصون التنوع البيولوجي في البيئات الحضرية، مما يسهم في بناء مدن مستقبلية أكثر استدامة وتكاملًا مع الطبيعة.

Promoting Biodiversity in Iraq.
The Together for a Better Life Foundation for Human and Community Development participated in a workshop.
As part of Iraq’s ongoing efforts to conserve and restore its rich biodiversity, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Iraq is supporting the Iraqi government, represented by the Ministry of Environment, in formulating its national biodiversity targets, in line with the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Under the umbrella of the Global Biodiversity Framework, UNDP also supported the development of a new project aimed at integrating biodiversity considerations into spatial planning. This project focuses specifically on strengthening efforts to conserve and protect urban biodiversity in central Iraq.

This initiative represents a key step in consolidating Iraq’s commitment to conserving biodiversity in urban environments, contributing to the construction of more sustainable and nature-integrated cities of the future.
